On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, PA CASA officially became CYAN (The Child & Youth Advocacy Network) of Pennsylvania.
This is a change our board and organization have been thoughtfully exploring for several years. The new brand better reflects our vision for the future of volunteer child advocacy in Pennsylvania, and gives us greater flexibility to innovate and respond to the unique needs of children and communities across the Commonwealth.
What Comes Next
As CYAN, we will build on initiatives such as a volunteer advocate training designed specifically for Pennsylvania, pursuing an evidence-based advocacy model through evaluation, and expanding innovative approaches to reach underserved children and families in rural communities. The new name also helps reduce the confusion created by the many organizations that use our former name in different ways.
Our Mission Stays the Same
While our name is changing, our mission is not. We remain committed to promoting volunteer advocacy for children before the court because of abuse and neglect. As part of this transition, our state office, previously affiliated with the National CASA/GAL Association, will no longer hold that affiliation.
Local Affiliates Choose Their Name
Each local affiliate is making its own decision about whether to adopt CYAN as its new brand or continue operating under its current name. As a result, you will continue to see affiliates under both names across Pennsylvania. Whatever name an affiliate chooses, its mission remains the same: providing volunteer advocacy for children before the court.
Our state office will continue supporting every local affiliate in Pennsylvania. CYAN's brand is one of many resources available to our network.
